This closet is approximately 12 feet long; providing for much more storage than merely linens. Especially towards the rear of the closet where we have a huge shelf (both wide and deep) which we use to store larger items. Beneath the shelf we store other large items, like our luggage, etc.

There are shelves to the rear as well as to the left (out of view from this angle)
We also store the vacuum cleaner, shampooer, etc, in this closet.
You can see at the bottom we have stored some over-flow canned goods which didn't fit in the pantry.

It was impossible to get in here to take a picture of the left side. What I did was kneel on the floor, and shoot upward and to the left. You don't by any means see the whole left side, but you get a general idea.
The shelves on the left are much deeper than those at the rear.
Half-Basement
The door to the basement is just off the Cozy Sitting Nook in this Vermont property.

There is cement on the floor, but the rest is pretty rough - typical basement like you will find in so many homes for sale in Vermont; if they have one at all. We obviously made the decision to not fix this up at all. There is a walk-out however, which we did build new steps for, as well as replace the bulk-head. To the left of the storage visible on the left is a tall embankment, which is where the crawl space under the rest of the house begins.
The usable storage area is approximately 21' x 13', and as you can see we store a ton of stuff here. Shelves on the left where we stock food storage, etc; tons of plastic bins on the right full of you name it. We also have three small freezers down here. Additionally there is the main heating oil tank, the electrical box, and the new high efficiency boiler and water heater we had put in. By the way, due to heating the water right off the boiler you never run out of hot water! No matter how much you use - very very important for a family of two adults and three teens.
